PICKENS COUNTY GOP TAPPED TO HOST 10TH DISTRICT
REPUBLICAN PICNIC
The leadership of the 10th Republican District, which is
comprised of 15 counties, has again selected Pickens
County to host its annual picnic. The event will be held in the
air conditioned rain proof Chamber of Commerce Building in
Newton Park, on Saturday, August 6th, from 11:00 A.M. to
2:00 P.M. All residents are invited.
Mary Ellen Childree, Vice Chairman of the 10th
District Republican Party said, "The Pickens County GOP
was chosen to hold this event because it has consistently
demonstrated the ability to draw large crowds and Republican
candidates and office holders from all areas of the state.
This year's invitees include U.S. Senators Chambliss and
Isakson, Congressman Nathan Deal, Governor Perdue and all
state-wide office holders. Additionally, Sen. Casey Cagle,
Ralph Reed and Senator Bill Stephens, announced 2006
candidates for Lt. Governor and Secretary of State respectively,
have been invited, as have the candidates for Agriculture
Commissioner, Attorney General and P.S.C. Commissioner."
Lurline Argo, local GOP Chairman said, "We are honored
to have been chosen to hold this event again. Its popularity
continues to grow as attendance has averaged over 150 people
over the past few years. In addition to the federal office holders
and state-wide elected officials and candidates, State Sen.
Chip Pearson and State Rep. Tom Graves, who both
represent Pickens County, and all nine Republicans who
hold local office have been invited."
The picnic will feature brief presentations by the
candidates and office holders and the opportunity for
residents to speak with them on a one to one basis. The
tickets are $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for kids and no charge for
children 6 years old and younger and includes Bar-B-Q,
soft drinks and live Country Music. You can purchase your
