          Keynote Speech - April 19, 2008
            by Congressman Nathan Deal

"Nobody enjoys delivering bad news -- nobody that is except the news media, where delivering bad news is their stock in trade. They will tell you and show you the most horrible atrocities and provide the gory commentary with perfect
smiles and will seamlessly flow into the weather report without so much as an intervening commercial. But today as I survey the political horizon, I find that I must be the bearer of bad news. The bad news that I speak of, however, has not yet happened.  It is simply the forecast that has been compiled by political pundits, opinion pollster, and network talking heads."  Read the rest of the story . . .      5.

She spoke candidly to the 9th Districts delegates about the problems in today's politics and in Washington D.C.  11. Martha introduced Lee Ellis of Forsyth County and recognized him as one of our true military heroes.  Lee is a retired Colonel and spent several years in the Hanoi Hilton prison -- just like Sen. John McCain.  Visit Martha's website.

Josh Turner and the White County Republican Party hosted a wonderful weekend, which included several record marks. The attendance at the banquet was the highest in the history of the banquet. In addition, a record number of sponsorships and funds were received to assist with the banquet and associated costs. Most importantly, however, 9th District Republicans enters this year with the strongest number of public servants, community leaders, and interested candidates in the history of our party.
