Rep. Jack Murphy
Announces Campaign for State Senate
Representative Jack Murphy
announced today that he will seek the Republican nomination for State Senate
District 27, covering most of
Representative Jack Murphy, serving
his second term in the State House, is a highly respected member of the new
Republican majority. He currently serves
as the Vice-Chairman of the Public Utilities and Telecommunications Committee,
and as a member of the Banks and Banking and Motor Vehicles Committees. Rep. Murphy also serves on the powerful
Appropriations Committee and its critical Fiscal Affairs and Judicial Oversight
Subcommittees.
Said
Murphy, “It has been one of the great honors of my life to represent in the
State House my friends and neighbors in Forsyth and Cherokee counties. With the
announcement by Senator Bill Stephens that he is seeking the Secretary of
State’s office, many people have contacted me to encourage me to run for the
State Senate. I am honored by their
confidence and support.”
“For the last four years in
the state legislature, I have been fighting for common sense, conservative
policies to help reignite our state’s economy, to expand educational
opportunity for our children, and to empower our families and our
communities. In this new Republican State
Senate, the people of Forsyth and Cherokee counties need experienced leadership
that can deliver on the issues that matter most. With my life experience and experience at the
Capitol, I believe I am the best candidate to provide that kind of effective
leadership. That is why I am running for
the State Senate.”
A veteran of the US Air Force,
Murphy is the President & CEO of
Jack is happily married to
Wendy Murphy and the proud parent of six children and eleven
grandchildren. Jack and Wendy attend the
Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Cumming.
